Sour Sally

Sour Sally has arrived at the shores of our sunny island, Singapore! Sour Sally has branded itself as US Premium Non-Fat Frozen Yogurt. I have no idea why everyone wants to brand/associate themselves as US premium… Berrylite also brand itself similarly.

Food for thought: You can’t buy Sour Sally yogurt in United States. Sour Sally is originally from Indonesia. It is very famous in Indonesia with 26 outlets in Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Bali and Bandung. Come to think of it many youngsters in Indonesia wants to be associated with being westernised. I bet most did not know Sour Sally is from Indonesia. This shows the effect of marketing and branding when done properly. Check out the website at the end of this post, it won an award and was vote best site too. But, personally felt that the music was irritating and loading was slow.

Sour Sally

This cheerful little girl wearing her black and white striped socks is Sour Sally.

Another association spotted again, ‘healthy’ is always used. Anyway, ‘Non-Fat’ or ‘Fat Free’ still contains calories, so it is still possible to gain weigh. I guess a rule of thumb is to eat all food in moderation.

We bought an online voucher that entitled us to 50% discount, we could purchase 2 Medium size Candy Mixed Yogurt with 2 toppings for $6.90 instead of $13.80.

Candy Mixed Yogurt with Chocolate Balls and Sally's Bubble (Medium)

Towards the last few mouthful, the Candy Mixed Yogurt started to taste too sweet for my liking. The Sally’s Bubble contains mango syrup. Each time you eat one of them there will be a bursting effect in your mouth. Chocolate ball is another topping worth trying.

Candy Mixed Yogurt with Longan and Aloe Vera Cubes (Medium)

The Longan and Aloe Vera Cubes are just average.

Berrylite has branded itself as American Premium 100% Fat-Free Frozen Yogurt. That rings a bell, Sour Sally also brands itself as a US Premium Non-Fat Frozen Yogurt!

I am not really a fan of yogurt or expert in yogurt. All I know is that from all the advertising, yogurt is supposed to be healthy. Good for skin, good for diet, good for digestion, has lots of calcium and vitamins. Looks like all the branding has work, as I remember all these values although I seldom eat yogurt.

Four flavours in total; Original, Pomegranate Raspberry, Green Tea and Dark Chocolate.

Chocolate Flavour (small) with Fruity Pebbles $4.50

We ordered Chocolate flavour (small) with Fruity Pebbles toppings. Glad that the chocolate flavour yogurt was not sour, just my kind. I am not a fan of yogurt as I find it too sour for my liking. I am sure the original flavour will be sour.  However, the fruity pebbles was way too sweet. It would have tasted better without the topping. They have a loyalty card so that you can get free toppings or free yogurt. Currently, Berrylite has 5 outlets.

How does it compare to Sour Sally or Yami Yogurt, which is nicer, healthier? Well, I have no idea as I know ‘nuts’ about yogurt. So go try them and see which suit your taste buds more.
