Shui Kway

Shui Kway is a stall that sells Chwee Kueh. Chwee Kueh is steam rice cake typically ate together with preserved radish (Chye Poh) and/or chilli.

Shui Kway stall makes the Chwee Kueh themselves.

No Pork and No Lard. 4 pieces for $1.20, 6 pieces for $1.80 and 8 pieces for $2.40

Chwee Kueh $1.20

Ordered 4 pieces of Chwee Kueh for $1.20. The Chwee Kueh seems softer than those that are being sold outside. The Chye Poh was disappointing, some how some thing was missing, not sure if it was the saltiness or what. But it just lack the punch that makes me want to keep eating. Hence, thought that this was just a average Chwee Kuah (can’t decide if i hate it or love it)

San Ba Wang Guo Zhi Shu Shi

San Ba Wang Guo Zhi Shu Shi is a stall that sells Kway Chap. The stall is located at Sembawang Hill Food Centre along Upper Thomson Road.

Kway Chap normally consist of 2 dishes. One of which consist of flat, broad rice sheets in a soup made with dark soy sauce. The other consist of  braised pig intestines, pig skin, braised duck meat, beancurd, preserved salted vegetables and braised hard-boiled eggs.

There was a queue at the stall. After ordering, you can go back to your seat or order some other food as the Kway Chap will be delivered to your table.

Bowl of flat, broad rice sheets

Plate consisting of braised pig intestines, pig skin, and beancurd

Had to wait 20 minutes for my Kway Chap to arrive.

My bowl of flat, broad rice sheets was average. Felt that the soup accompanying the rice sheets could have been more tasty and fragrance.

Was not won over by the plate of braised pig intestines, pig skin, and beancurd. It takes a lot of effort to clean the pig intestines and get rid of the smell in it. Felt that there was still a strong lingering smell in it. Overall, average kway chap.

Yong Kee Longtong.Crispy Curry Puff

This post is about curry puff not longtong. ‘Yong Kee Longtong . Crispy Curry Puff’ is the stall’s name. The stall sells longtong, curry puff and also yam puff. The stall is located at Sembawang Hill Food Centre along Upper Thomson Road. It is near to Lower Pierce Reservoir.

The curry puffs are hand-made on the spot.

Curry Puff $0.80

The curry puff is smaller that those of Tip Top and Old Chang Kee. That is one of the reasons why it is 50 cents cheaper compared to both curry puff.

The curry puff was warm when I bought it. The crust is crispy on the outside. However, it the crust is not as tasty as that of tip top. Inside, there are mashed potatoes and a slice of hard-boiled egg. Felt that it could have been more spicy. Overall, it was just an average curry puff. Clearly, pale in comparison to Tip Top Curry Puff.
