Yong Kee Longtong.Crispy Curry Puff

This post is about curry puff not longtong. ‘Yong Kee Longtong . Crispy Curry Puff’ is the stall’s name. The stall sells longtong, curry puff and also yam puff. The stall is located at Sembawang Hill Food Centre along Upper Thomson Road. It is near to Lower Pierce Reservoir.

The curry puffs are hand-made on the spot.

Curry Puff $0.80

The curry puff is smaller that those of Tip Top and Old Chang Kee. That is one of the reasons why it is 50 cents cheaper compared to both curry puff.

The curry puff was warm when I bought it. The crust is crispy on the outside. However, it the crust is not as tasty as that of tip top. Inside, there are mashed potatoes and a slice of hard-boiled egg. Felt that it could have been more spicy. Overall, it was just an average curry puff. Clearly, pale in comparison to Tip Top Curry Puff.

Tip Top Curry Puff (2nd post)

My 2nd post! The first post can be found here. Tip top is my favourite curry puff. In fact, I rate it still as the best curry puff in Singapore. Used to eat Old Chang Kee’s curry puffs long ago. But in the past 2 years, Old Chang Kee’s curry puff lost its appeal to me. Seems to taste as though it was factory made, not made individually.

The coffee shop has undergone a renovation. And tiptop has changed its outlook too. The sign board looks weird, maybe because I am too use to the old one. The whole place looks so white and bright. I prefer their old humble outlook.

$1.30

Hmmm, sad to say the price of Tip Top Curry Puff has increased to $1.30 that is the same price as Old Chang Kee’s curry puff. But well, let see if its still as nice.

Tip Top Curry Puff $1.30

It seems that the curry puff has shrink sightly. When cost increase, the size and portion should remain the same and not smaller..  But well, the taste of it is still as delicious. Will not go into the details as I have already wrote about it in my first post. Still as good, still the best curry puff in Singapore. But please, if you increase the price, do not decrease the size.

Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff (Maxwell FC)

What caught my attention is this man making curry puff on the spot in the stall. This can only means one thing, the food is fresh and not factory (machined made). I have stop wasting my money and calories on Old Chang Kee curry puff as the price has increased, but standard of the curry puff has dropped. Besides I know its made somewhere is kept frozen till its sent to its outlets. sadly, this is becoming a supply chain solution for all our food today.

Chicken Curry Puff $1.20

Look at how fat the curry puff is. The curry puff is warm, it has just been fried and is freshly made! The crust is crispy and thin. Inside, there is a small piece of hard boiled egg and a mixture of curry, potato and chicken. Not too bad a curry puff, I would still eat it if i pass my this place. However, it lose to the likes of Tip Top Curry Puff and Epok Epok.
