Herbal Soup (AMK Hub)

Always been a fan of herbal stuff. So when I was at Ang Mo Kio Hub Food Court, decided to go to the Herbal Soup Stall.

Menu

Mini Herbal Chicken $4.00 + Rice $0.50

Mini Herbal Chicken $4.00

This was what I ordered. Dig out the herbs and place on top of the chicken. Too little herbs… and lousy quality too. How did I know? Because I am one of those who actually eat the herbs. Actually by looking at the herbs, its obvious that its some lousy quality herbs. The herbal soup base at the bottom was to salty. I believe that salt has been added to enhance the taste. Can’t taste any herbal taste as it was overpowered by the salt and the herbs was either to little or lousy quality.

The chicken was soft, tender but tasteless. None of the herbal essence was infused into the chicken. I would say its quite disappointing. When the main ingredient (herbs) is compromised, essentially the whole dish can goes wrong.

If you are in the area (Ang Mo Kio) and have a craving for herbal soup, you might wanna walk 10minutes and try this instead.

Ah Chew Desserts 阿秋甜品

I think that quite alot of people will be familiar with this dessert stall along Liang Seah Street. There are a few other desserts stalls nearby too, heard that they are not bad too, but did not try them yet.

They occupy 2 shops side by side. This is the interior of one of them. Seating capacity is quite small esp during peak period. So if you have a big group its quite hard to come here to eat as they have 2 rounds tables only. Also, you will not be able to chat after finishing your dessert.

Nice decorations. Did not notice all these nice interior decorations when I came last time. Must have been too busy eating .

Menu

Sorry for the reflections. Surface of table causes the reflection.

Black Sesame Paste (hot) $2.10 + Rice ball $1.10

Look at the picture of the black sesame paste. Yes its very smooth. Had a mouthful, nice not grainy at all.

Honeydew with Sago (cold) $3.20

This is what my favourite. You can add ice-cream for just $0.90. Can taste the sweetness of the honeydew. The amount of coconut added was just nice for me, adding an extra fragrance. The sago inside was average, not thing to really talk about. As a whole, it was not to sweet and texture was smooth. The only problem I had was the ice. I do not think they add ice last time. Too much ice was added. With every mouthful I eat, there is always at least a piece of ice. If I let the ice melt, it becomes diluted.

Overall, still not too bad. Price wise tend to be slightly higher as its just a shop that sells dessert. I have the feeling I will order the same thing again if I come back. I should go try other desserts.

Opening Hours

Gong Cha (贡茶) (3rd post)

My 3rd post. No, I am not a fan of Gong Cha, its just that I happen to walk past their new outlet at Plaza Singapura (PS).

Gong Cha, Outside Plaza Singapura

Surprisingly not crowded considering it was a Saturday afternoon (430pm). Queue just behind 2 person then it was my turn to order again.

Gong Cha's Menu

Do not think there’s any change in products. For a clearer menu, look at my 1st post.

Sweetness Level

Earl Grey Milk Tea with 3Js $3.60

Had this yet again. I can really conclude that Gong Cha’s Pearl lost out to KOI. Its hard. Really a spoiler that spoils the texture and fluency of this drink. And I realise that the Ai-Yu jelly is actually yellow in colour, not transparent as described in the previous post. Anyone have any other recommendations for Gong Cha?

And yes they are suddenly opening several new outlets. Besides this outside Plaza Singapura, I spotted another in Raffles City Shopping Centre (it was crowded). I heard that they are facing quality issue at the moment. Lets hope thats not the case with regards to opening so many outlets. Also, someone created a facebook page with all their outlets, and it states Gong Cha has 8 outlets. Now sure how reliable is it.
