U.d.d.e.r.s (Novena)

What is the meaning of udders? Well, it is a baglike organ containing the mammary glands, characteristic of certain female mammals, such as cows, sheep, and goats. In the case of cows, it where the milk comes from. Hence, in this context, Udders is a homegrown parlour that sells ice cream. The value propositions are that the ice cream is fresh, home-made (with no preservatives), healthy, natural and original. Moreover, they are famous for their uniquely flavoured ice cream, some of which are liqueured flavoured.

Menu

Colourful and cheerful menu that is a norm at all its outlets.

This is a cow udder water dispenser. What a way to emphasis on the word udder.

They have ice cream workshops too.

Bailey’s & Bourbon (Premium Range) $3.90

Bailey’s & Bourbon is a combination of  Bailey’s Irish Cream with bourbon. Yes, it is alcoholic and is a best seller. Thought that it was abit diluted in terms of flavour.

Waffle with Mao Shan Wang Durian (Connoisseur Range) and Awesomely Chocolate (Premium Range) $9.70

The waffle at Udders taste great when combined with ice cream! Mao Shan Wang Durian needs no introduction among the locals. Really taste like mao shan wang durian and it is also their best seller. Awesomely Chocolate, dark bitter chocolate.

Waffle with Tira-miss-u (Connoisseur Range) and Earl Grey (Classic Range) $9.20

Tira-miss-u, a combination of mascapone cheese, brandy  and cognac. Has the highest liqueur content among all the ice creams. Earl Grey, very intense earl grey after taste.

You can sample all the flavours before ordering the one you like. Udders’s flavours are so unique and special. Certainty a place to come to for dessert. Both Udders and Tom Palette are among my favourites, both are home-made, fresh and natural. The main difference I would say is that Udders sells liqueur ice cream. Currently, there are 5 Udders outlets.

Gong Cha (贡茶)

Gong Cha, another bubble tea player from Taiwan has come to our shore. Gong Cha has two outlets currently in Novena and City Square.

Gong Cha

1 side for ordering, the other for collecting

Went to Gong Cha at novena, there was about 3 person queuing in front of me. Much lesser than KOI maybe because it is a weekday at 330pm. Queue at one side to order, then collect at another side.

Gong Cha Menu (i)

Gong Cha Menu (ii)

Take note of the extra options. For example, adding of pearls will required an extra 30cents unlike KOI which is free. Similarly to KOI, you can choose your own sweetness level.

Instructions on how to drink

Gong Cha Milk Alisan Tea ($2.40) with Pearls ($0.30)

Ordered Gong Cha Milk Alisan Tea ($2.40) with Pearls ($0.30). Cheaper than KOI.

The pearls was forgettable. KOI’s pearls were more firm, bouncy and nicer to me. I thought I mixed the milk on top. But after drinking till the bottom part, I realised it was all milk. I did not mix it well enough. This is nothing like KOI, totally different. But for me I will still prefer KOI followed by Gong Cha.  But I will still be trying Gong Cha again for other flavours and mix the milk with tea well if I happen to go pass the shop. Maybe I will find something I like.
