Sakae Sushi (Northpoint)

Sakae Sushi, this time at Northpoint. Again, I had to queue up, for half an hour. With 32 outlets in Singapore, every outlet seems to have a queue outside during lunch and dinner time. Must be making big bucks!

Ajitsuke Idako $1.99

A must order for her everytime, Ajitsuke Idako which is baby octopus sushi.

Sakae Chawanmushi $1.99

The Sakae Chawanmushi was slight different from the one we ate at Choa Chu Kang Lot1. The Chawanmushi seems to taste slightly harder than normal. Might be because the amount of water to egg ratio is not consistent among the outlets or batches.

Teriyaki Chicken Ramen $10.99

Teriyaki Chicken Ramen, overall it was not bad. the teriyaki chicken was well marinated. It was soft, tender and tasty. The ramen was well cooked, soft and springy. The only thing that was disappointing was the egg, it was slightly overcooked. Looks like quality control is really a problem between different outlets; you get different standards.

Tenno Gozen $18.99

Everything here seems to be priced at $xx.99! The Tenno Gozen consist of Beef Hotplate, Tempura Moriawase, Lobster Salad Tofu, Mini Udon and Sakae Chawanmushi. Quite a lot of food!

Beef

Beef Hotplate

The beef hotplate, wish that the flame beneath can burn longer so that the carrot can be cooked longer and hence softer. Cooking the beef in this hotplate is a good idea after all, I can cook it to the leve I prefer.

Mini Udon

Mini Udon was average, nothing to shout about.

Tempura Moriawase

Tempura Moriawase, hmmm lousy. Thick batter, prawn was not very fresh and the flesh was not firm.

Lobster Salad Tofu

Lobster Salad Tofu, probably one of the best dish in the set. Amazing something that seems so simple such as tofu can taste so great when you know how to pair it up.

Service is quite good, just that there seems to be a long queue everytime. Having to wait for half an hour when there is just 4 couples in front of us. Also, does not make sense that they give us a table that could sit 8people! But overall, food is acceptable not too bad, will be back again.

Sakae Sushi (Lot 1)

Went to Sakae Sushi during dinner on a weekday. There was a queue, waited about 20minutes. Queues are quite common during meal times at most Sakae Sushi.

Organic Green TeaSomething that I always order, hot green tea. Their cups seems to be smaller than before.

Ajitsuke Idako (baby octopus sushi)

Ajitsuke Idako, ‘must eat’ item for her whenever she comes to Sakae Sushi!

Sakae Chawanmushi $1.99

Sakae Chawanmushi

Another signature item to order, the Sakae Chawanmushi. It contains crabmeat, vegetarian shark’s fin, fish cake and mushroom. The Chawanmushi is quite smooth and light, however it was on the salty. What a pity, it would be perfect if it was not so salty.

Beef Ramen $11.99

Beef Ramen

I can’t help but think to myself that in the menu, the picture of the beef ramen and the actual dish looks so different.

The Beef Ramen was surprising delicious and quite filling.

Geisha Gozen $18.99

She also ordered the Geisha Gozen which cost $18.99. The set consist of quite a spread, chicken Kaminabe, Salmon Teriyaki, Sakura Ebi Tofu, Chuka Kurage, Sakae Chawanmushi. It took quite long to be cooked and served.

Geisha Gozen

Look at the amount of food compared to what I ate in the background.

Chicken Kaminabe

Kaminabe means paper hot pot. Chicken Kaminabe is chicken paper hot pot? Nothing really fantastic about this.

Salmon Teriyaki

The Salmon Teriyaki was very salty. The saltiness masked the freshness of the salmon (that is if it was fresh in the first place).

Sakura Ebi Tofu

Again one word to describe the Sakura Ebi Tofu, salty.

Chuka Kurage

Chuka Kurage is seasoned jellyfish. It was average.

More misses than hits in this meal. My top of mind awareness after this meal is salty.
