Hokkien Mee (AMK Hub)

Went to Ang Mo Kio Hub NTUC Foodfare (Food Court) at level 3.

Hokkien Mee $4.00

There was 3 prawns in it, pieces of sotong, bean sprouts and noodles. Quite nice, however, the prawns was not fresh. The rest of the ingredients were fresh. The chilli was shiok. For the price of $4.00, this was not too bad.

Arteastiq (Mandarin Gallery)

Arteastiq is a tea lounge (tea place) hidden in a furniture shop.

To me, Arteastiq is not a place to come to if you are in a rush. Take things slow and relax when u come here as the orders will take sometime to be served. Also, there is limited seats available, turnover tend to be slow as its an area for tea, so customers tend to sit and chat for long period.  The sofa is comfortable, good for sitting down and chat.

French Rose Tea (hot) $11.00

French Rose Tea

The biscuit was average, nothing special. The French Rose Tea was fragrant. Quite interesting. But after taking several more sips, it tend to be abit blend and boring. Then its time to add a bit of sugar. Not too bad a drink. Quite nice. The price tend to be on the high end, can’t see why this cost $11.00.

Pear Tea (hot) $11.00

Piece of pear in tea

Tea bag and pieces of pea in tea pot

Their Pear Tea is a very interesting drink. It smells like the chinese tea that is served in restaurants. But when you taste it, it taste nothing like that, accompanied by the taste of pear in the tea with a sweet fragrance. The pear taste nothing like pear too. Its soft. It is as though it has been boiled or maybe it was because of the hot tea. Overall, I would say this tea is a unique tea, but price seems to be on the high end again.

Arteastiq Crispy Wraps with Teriyaki Grilled Chicken $5.90

The Arteastiq Crispy Wraps with Teriyaki Grilled Chicken was quite nice. The chicken was soft and the wraps were crispy. I am wondering if the wraps were from NTUC house brand roti prata.

Arteastiq is a nice place to come and relax away from the fast paced life. It is best to reserve if you are coming with a large group of people. And during the after noon, the sunlight shines in through the window as can be seen in some photos taken.

Cafe Cartel (Marina Square)

After 9pm, there is a 50% discount for cakes, drinks and snacks at Cafe Cartel outlets. Happen to be in Marina Square and decided to go Cafe Cartel to have a bite at 915pm. It was a sat, there was a queue even though it was 915pm. Must be the 50% discount.

Had to wait about 1o to 15 minutes before getting a place. Sadly, the table was wet, not sure if the staff there cleaned the table after the previous customer left. It was obvious that they could not cope. Full house, yet there was only 4 staff serving the customers. Ordered a Tiramisu Cheese Cake and Tic-Tac-Toe Platter. Requested for two glasses of warm water which was promptly served.

50% Promo - Tiramisu Cheese Cake $2.80

The Tiramisu Cheese Cake took about 15 minutes to arrive. After tasting it, I was not won over, the cake was cut and left out in the open for sometime. It was not cold and inside, it was very moist/wet.

As for the Tic-Tac-Toe Platter. Had to ask the staff to check my order as we waited very long for it. It was served 40minutes after we ordered… It was ridiculous waiting this long for this ‘snack’

50% Promo - Tic-Tac-Toe Platter $3.10

The Tic-Tac-Toe Platter was just fries, potato wedges and waffle fries. Why did it need 40minutes to cook? Moreover, the fries were cold and soggy. Same for the wedges which were cold. Only the waffle fries were slightly warm. Disappointing, who likes cold soggy food…

There maybe a 50% offer, but if food and service standards get compromised, this offer may as well be withdrew. This is bad for the image of the brand. I wonder is this the same for other outlets.
